The Peace of God

I was contemplating recently how many religions focus on producing an inner peace in themselves. People will follow one of these religions where they learn to focus their mind and meditate on peaceful things, so that they might be peaceful. I don't have a problem with Yoga for exercise, but many people do this in hopes of having peace. As I thought on this, I realized the difference between Christianity and these other religions. They have to contrive this peace within themselves by doing exercises and meditating. As Christians, we have peace with God through Christ's death on the cross and our forgiveness of sins. In Philippians 4 it says to be anxious for nothing, but instead that we should pray. The end result of our focus on Christ is that the peace of God that is beyond our understanding will fill us. It's nothing we do, it's what we don't do. It's when we leave our lives in His hands and thank him for what He is going to do that our hearts and minds will be at peace.
