My students at school said I should get this published, so here goes!
"To a Clue"
In Watertown, where I was dwell'n
There was a girl named Trixie Beld'n
One night, at midnight, Trixie woke-
She thought she smelled some kind of smoke
"the window is unlocked and open
Something outside my window's smokin'"
"This," she said, "Must be a clue,"
So she went and called Nancy Drew.
She woke Nancy from a dead sleep
"Nancy! Nancy! Get in your Jeep!"
"I'm sure to be murdered this night
When you arrive turn out your lights."
In the dark, the night was misty
"I best call our friend Mandy"
Nancy muttered as she shivered
"Unless of course, she's already heard."
As was suspect, Mandy knew
She was going to Trixie's house too.
The only light there was-was a glow-
Underneath Trixie's window.
On further examination,
And to the two girls elation-
the Hardy Boys were sitting there
As if they had not a care.
"We figured you'd all join us soon-
If we camped outside Trixie's room.
A true sleuth would never let go-
The smell of smoke outside her window."
The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew,
Mandy and Trixie Belden too-
Do not just live in mystery books-
With chums, Jalopies, and the crooks.
But in the heart of every child's-
Imagination - meek and mild
And in the minds and hearts of we-
Who kids at heart will ever be.
