Songs of the Soul

Back in 2005, the Lord gave me an ability for a short time. I think perhaps it was to help me get through new life experiences. I moved to South Carolina that year to finish school. I knew very few people there. I barely knew the people I was living with, and I began a difficult yet fulfilling job. I became a nanny for an 11 year old girl and a 13 year old girl who had cerebral palsy. I'd like to share the poetry He put in my heart then with all of you now.

Sometimes in the midst of our busy lives God makes us sit still just to listen and know His presence. Sometimes in the midst of a trial our minds are racing and He gives us words. He gives us the words of comfort and life. Sometimes we are not in His book, yet He brings those long embedded words back to the forefront of our minds and hearts. Sometimes, when we least expect it, out of the heart of God into ours, com songs of the soul.

If Eyes Could See

If eyes could see the Prince of Peace
That day of humble birth,
If eyes could see His mother's face
Holding Him, Child of Grace,
If eyes could see Him heal the blind
And set the pris'ner free
Their eyes would surely see the Lord-
That like him they should be.

If eyes could see the Love of Christ,
So often left untold,
If eyes could see His nail-pierced hands,
His riven side outpoured
If eyes could see His majesty
The Son of God, my friend
Their eyes would surely see the Truth
Their knees before him bend

If eyes could see the Risen Lord
Who triumphed over death
If eyes could see Him glorified
Walking that rugged path
If eyes could see His outstretched hands
To friends who doubt His love
Their eyes would surely see the life
They should live for Christ above

We are the eyes of the people,
The eyes of blinded man
It should be our life's ambition
To show them his great Plan.
We are the eyes of the people,
Of soulds who need to see.
His Sacrifice put forth for them-
When He died on the tree.

Your God is There

When the tempest rages strong,
And your climb seems oh, so long,
When you feel you don't belong,
Your God is there.

When youreach the moutain heights
And your spirit feels so light
When it seems there is no night
Your God is there

When it's time to climb back down,
And the clouds seem to surround
When you cannot see the ground
Your God is there

Then He will take you to a place
Where only by His grace
You will reach a higher plain
And soon will see His face.
Your God is there.

Rest for my Soul

It seems like yesterday
He came to me.
He drew me with the cords of man-
With bands of love,
And brought me in.
Those cords alone will stand the test
Of time and eternity
'Til I reach His place of rest

Rest for my soul
I find in Him.
That path made clear
I should walk therein.

It seems like yesterday
He led the way.
His Word my map
From day to day.
No help from man
There was like His
For with my infirmity
He was touched
And would bless
'Till I reach His place of rest.

Rest for my soul I find today
As His Word revealed
Shows me the way.
No path too rough,
No road too long
For with His presence
He leads me along.
And so I enter into rest,
And with His presence,
I am refreshed.

It seems like yesterday
It all began.
But today I reach
For that golden strand
And there in that reaching
I found I am resting
Resting on His almight hand.
